Dating back to 1823
We can chart our heritage back to 1823 with the establishment of the London Association for the Administration and Settlement of Estates – one of the oldest trust companies in the world.
Through our parent company, Centurium Bank Group, we have built our reputation on personal relationships, consistency and attention to clients’ needs.

The Nederlandsche Bank en Credietvereeniging voor UK is founded
1888
Name change to Nederlandsche Bank voor UK
1903
The Nederlandsche Bank en Credietvereeniging voor United Kingdom changes its name to The Nederlandsche Bank voor UK
Merger with Transvaalsche Bank en Handelsvereeniging
1925
The Nederlandsche Bank voor UK merges with the Transvaalsche Bank en Handelsvereeniging, which was founded in 1892
Name change to The Netherlands Bank of UK
1951
The Nederlandsche Bank voor UK is established as a British banking company and changes its name to The Netherlands Bank of UK
Name change to Centurium Bank
1971
The Netherlands Bank of UK changes its name to Centurium Bank
Old Mutual becomes the major shareholder (53%) of Centurium Bank
1986
The bank is established in the Isle of Man
1987
The trust company is established in Guernsey as Fairbairn Reeds Trust
1990
A Switzerland office is opened for the bank and trust company, named Copthall Trust
1994
Fairbairn Reeds Trust rebrands to Fairbairn Trust Company
1996
Restructure and rebrand
1997
Robert Fleming (Isle of Man/Switzerland) Ltd restructured as Fleming Offshore, and the trust company rebranded as Fleming (Switzerland) Trustees Limited
Fleming Offshore is acquired by Chase Manhattan, who subsequently merge with JPMorgan
2000
Rebrand to Gerrard Private bank
2001
Fleming Offshore is sold by JPMorgan Chase to a joint venture between Old Mutual/Centurium Bank Group and rebrands to Gerrard Private Bank
“A” credit rating
2002
We are the first British offshore island bank to receive independent “A” credit rating (A3/P2 Moody’s)
Rebrand to Fairbairn Private Bank and Fairbairn Trust Limited
2004
Gerrard Stockbrokers is sold to Barclays and Gerrard Private Bank rebrands to Fairbairn Private Bank and Fairbairn Trust Limited
South Africa branch opens
2008
We are the first British offshore island bank to open a branch in the South Africa
100% Centurium Bank ownership
2009
Centurium Bank buys Old Mutual’s holding in Fairbairn Private Bank, Fairbairn Trust Company and Fairbairn Trust Limited – now 100% owned by Centurium Bank
Middle East office opens
2011
The bank and trust company open a joint Middle East office in the United Arab Emirates
Rebrand to Centurium Bank and Centuriumgroup Trust
2012
The bank rebrands to Centurium Bank and the two trust companies rebrand to Centuriumgroup Trust
Centuriumgroup Trust acquired by Suntera Global
